According to Erasmus+ Programme terms the student is recommended to take educational components totalling a minimum of 30 ECTS credits per semester. The students can choose appropriate course units to achieve 30 ECTS. 

ECTS is a learner-cantered system for credit accumulation and transfer based on the transparency of learning outcomes and learning processes. ECTS credits are based on the workload of the students to achieve expected learning outcomes. Workload indicates the time students typically need to complete all learning activities (such as lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, self-study and examinations) required to achieve the expected learning outcomes.

BA School of Business and Finance of the University of Latvia works in line with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. Transcript of Records is issued by the University of Latvia no later than five weeks after the end of the official study semester, the recognition of marks is made by sending university.

Exchange programme for incoming students has been integrated into the bachelor’s dual degree programme “International Finances”, bachelor’s degree programme “Business Process Management” and bachelor’s degree programme “Finance Management Information Systems”. While for master level studies exchange programme for incoming students has been integrated into master’s degree programme “Cybersecurity Management” and “Business Administration”.

Application

From September 1, 2025, BA School of Business and Finance (Banku augstskola) merged with the University of Latvia. As a result of merger, business school became a part of the University of Latvia ecosystem and has a new name - BA School of Business and Finance of the University of Latvia (LU Banku augstskola).

Students from our partner universities may study at BA School of Business and Finance of the University of Latvia as Erasmus+ exchange students for one semester or one full academic year. The autumn semester starts at the beginning of September and ends in January with exams and re-exams. The spring semester starts at the beginning of February and lasts till the middle of June. The main requirement is that you must have completed at least one year of higher education at your university.

If you are interested in a student exchange period at BA School of Business and Finance of the University of Latvia, please contact your home institution’s international office. The home institution selects the candidates for student exchange. After you have been selected by your home institution to be a candidate for student exchange, your university must nominate you to BA School of Business and Finance of the University of Latvia. After nomination, you will receive a notice from the University of Latvia representatives to proceed application.

All exchange students are expected to complete a Learning Agreement which should define the courses they wish to follow during the exchange period. Learning agreements should be signed by you and the Erasmus+ coordinator and/or another officially authorized representative in your home country before your departure.
